A 12-year-old boy from Georgia named C.J. Pearson has gained a large following on the site for his outspoken conservative beliefs. Last week, he posted a video clip of himself questioning President Obama’s love of the United States, and days later he was locked out of his Facebook page.

Pearson was quick to blame his political beliefs for the lockout, continuing to write on his Facebook page through a third party.

“I am having my Editor, Alan Davidson post on my behalf on this page while Facebook continues to lock me out,” Pearson said. “The 1st amendment is obviously not a big concern to the powers at be at Facebook, but we will continue to fight back!”

While that makes for a sensational story, the truth is most likely far more mundane. After all, Pearson is only 12 years old, and Facebook’s minimum age policy dictates that users must be at least 13 years old to use the site. Of course, that doesn’t stop many younger users from simply lying and accessing the site, but other 12-year-olds don’t have the high public profile that Pearson does. It’s likely that he simply drew too much attention to himself and got locked out. However, that won’t stop Pearson and many of his followers from thinking that Facebook is censoring him for his opinions.
