Mark Zuckerberg Vows To “Fix” Facebook In 2018

New Years is a time of reflection for many of us, and it seems as though Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is no different. This year, Zuckerberg promised to fix the host of problems that plagued Facebook over the course of 2017.

Indeed, no matter your opinion of the social media giant, there’s no denying that last year was a brutal one for the company. From fake content to censorship to harassment, Facebook faced an unprecedented amount of controversy and public pressure.

“The world feels anxious and divided, and Facebook has a lot of work to do —whether it’s protecting our community from abuse and hate, defending against interference by nation states, or making sure that time spent on Facebook is time well spent,” Zuckerberg wrote in a post on his Facebook page.

The Facebook founder makes some kind of resolution at the start of every year, from visiting every state in the country to running a marathon, but this is the first time he’s turned his focus toward improving his own product. It seems like Facebook is (finally) coming to grips with its power and responsibility to protect users — now, let’s hope Zuckerberg follows through on his promise.
