Man Accused Of Using Facebook “Modeling” Messages To Solicit Nude Pictures

facebook_blackbg_logoA Massachusetts man was arraigned this week after being indicted for posting fake Facebook “modeling” ads to solicit nude pictures from a 15-year-old girl and a woman.

According to Assistant District Attorney Jane E. Mulqueen, the girl answered a Facebook message sent under a female name about a modeling opportunity. She was told she had to have sex with the “boss” to get the job—and of course, the boss was 35-year-old Bairon Ubeda, the man allegedly behind the sickening scam. Ubeda is also alleged to have taken nude photos of a woman and extorted her for her tax returns, unemployment and payroll. Police officers also spoke to four other women who answered the Facebook message, though none of them met the perpetrator in person, and there are currently no charges against Ubeda in relation to them.

“With this unfortunate situation in mind, we remind children and adults about the dangers of interacting with unknown persons through social media. Please exercise caution in private discussions and never agree to meet previously unknown persons with whom you have only had contact through the Internet,” Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said.

Indeed, as this shocking case illustrates, you can never be too careful and discerning when talking to strangers on Facebook.
