Scam Type: Click-jacking – Like-jacking
Trending: April 2011
Why it’s a Scam:
Once you click on the Wall Post link, you are taken to the following page:
This scam isn’t quite as polished and sophisticated as others. You are required to manually “like” and “share” the page with your friends. Most click/like jacking scams do this automatically with embedded code.
After clicking “like” and “share,” surprisingly, you are taken to a page that does show you a video. It is not worth compromising your account and spamming your friends to see this video!
How to Deal with the Scam:
If you did make the mistake of clicking on the scam message, you will need to check your news feed and make sure you aren’t spamming the message to your friends. If you are, you need to remove the item from your wall by clicking the small “x” in the top right hand corner of the post.
