When you click the “Click Me” button, your account is “like-jacked!” Your newsfeed will display a message like the one displayed above, and you will be spreading the scam to all of your friends. You should know better than to click by now, but if you do agree to install the application, you are taken to the following screen.

Do you really want to give a rogue application developer this much access to your information? Hopefully, you know better by now. But if you do indeed install the rogue application, then you are taken to a screen that requires you to complete a survey to prove that you are human. This is the ultimate end game of the scammers. You are asked to complete surveys, and this is how they get paid.

How to Deal with the Scam:

If you did make the mistake of installing the application and passing the link onto your friends, you should clean-up your newsfeed and profile to remove references to the application. You also need to access your privacy settings and remove the application. Click – Account -Privacy Settings, then under Applications and Websites you will need to click – Edit your settings. This will take you to the screen where you can remove any unwanted applications.

If you made the mistake of submitting your cell phone number for any of the surveys, then you should contact your carrier immediately to keep any bogus charging from appearing.
