Facebook Just Moved A Lot Of Your Info To The Front Of Your Profile

who_viewed_your_profile_thumb1You may not know it, but Facebook recently made a tweak to your profile that moved some important — and potentially personal — information to the front-and-center of your page.

Your full employment and education history is now prominently featured in your Facebook profile’s “Intro” section, while it was previously tucked away in your profile’s “About” tab.

Thankfully, the change doesn’t make any private information available to the public, but it does make some sensitive info suddenly much more visible than it was before. Of course, Facebook pointed out that the information now displayed in your Intro is the same you already had in your profile, so if you were careful about it before, there shouldn’t be a problem now.

“This is a change we made in the past week to make it easier to understand which of your work and education (school, college) fields are public,” a Facebook spokesperson told The Huffington Post. “None of these fields have [had] their privacy settings changed; we’re now simply showing the already-public fields in Intro… If you’ve already curated what you want to appear there, this change shouldn’t affect you.”

A friendly notification from Facebook that this change was occurring would’ve been nice, but thankfully it’s a very quick fix. Simply click on the pencil icon next to each line of information in your Intro and de-select it if you don’t want it to be visible, or if you’re using the mobile version, just click the “Edit Info” line.
