If you are an Internet user, you would know that posting photos that could get you into a lot of trouble is just like airing your very dirty laundry. But there are some people do not seem to know or understand this as they still continue to post photos or comments that could be their downfall.
Take for example Harley David McKenzie. McKenzie, a meat worker, posted a very disturbing photo of himself beside a leopard seal that he has attacked with rocks. His photo caught the attention of the staff at the Department of Conservation, which led to his arrest.
Upon investigation, it has been found out that McKenzie has long been mistreating animals. In fact, he admitted that he once cut off the tail as well as the ears of a pig for fun just last year. Aside from this, he also admitted that he, together with five other friends, shot three dairy cows a year before the pig incident. McKenzie and two of his buddies were ordered to pay huge fines for the damage they have done.
Last October 2009, McKenzie, along with two other friends, found a leopard seal at the Te Waewae Bay and thought it would be funny to throw stones at it. That act not enough, McKenzie dragged the injured animal down to the beach and took photos of himself with the suffering leopard seal.
They were ordered to appear in court for their “barbaric” actions. His friends, Michael William Matthews and Phillip Ray Horrell, were fined $7,000 and $5,000 respectively; while McKenzie was to be sentenced. For his stupid act, McKenzie could be facing jail.
