According to CBS, a 14-year-old Jersey Cityboy allegedly threatened two 12-year-old boys via Facebook. The cyber-bullying occurred because the 14-year-old thought the 12-year-old boys were interested in a girl he liked.

Carolyn Murphy, Essex County Prosecutor, told NBC New York, the younger boys were insulted by being called “a punk,” “gay,” and “fat.” The incident further escalated when the 14-year-old threatened to kill the victims. One 12-year-old received a message stating “the teen would tie the boy to a pole, attach a rope and hook it to the boy’s stomach, tie it to his car and drive off, tearing off his body.”

Belleville authorities became involved when the victims told their parents about the threats. Authorities believe the victims and abuser did not know each other personally.

The 14-year-old was arrested on charges of harassment and making terroristic threats. He was processed and later released to his parents.

The Hudson County prosecutor will decide if the teen should be tried as an adult.

Ironically, this episode occurred just days after the White House conference on bullying. The White House reports about 13 million young people are bullied each year.
