Children, despite their oh-so-innocent looks, can actually commit some pretty cruel deeds. Enter any typical middle school or high school building and you’ll find one of the most emotionally challenging places on earth. This point was further hammered in by two preteen girls living in Washington who hacked into Leslie Cote’s Facebook account and proceeded to post some very inappropriate material on Facebook.
Leslie Cote – whose name has been revealed at the request of the victim herself so that the situation may draw more attention to the issue of cyberbullying – had her Facebook account hacked by two of her female classmates. The girls apparently vandalized
The situation was brought to Leslie’s mom’s attention by a friend of Leslie. She then went to the police on March 18 to report the situation. Police found out that the two preteen girls were behind the incident and they have since been charged with Cyberstalking and computer trespassing. They are now under a restraining order that utterly forbids them from contacting Leslie or even sharing a bus with her.
What is disturbing is that these girls were actually friends with Leslie before, but then they had some sort of falling out. In fact, they got a hold of Leslie’s password when she visited the house of one of them and logged into her Facebook account from there. Police believe that the username and password were stored on the computer, which led to the hacking.
Indeed, the incident has caused quite a bit of shock for the community, especially due to the age of the culprits.
