Facebook Security issued a blog post today revealing some new security features that will soon be available to users.

The first one is called ‘Trusted Friends.’ This will help users gain access to their Facebook accounts if they fail to remember their password, don’t have access to their email account or if they are locked out. Facebook compares it to giving a house key to your friends when you go on vacation.

If you are ever have trouble accessing your account, Facebook will send codes to the friends you have selected. Your friends pass the codes to you, and you enter them to gain entry to your Facebook account.

The second feature they are testing is called ‘App Passwords.’ This will allow users to log in to third party Facebook applications with a unique password. Facebook advises this will be helpful if you have opted into Login Approvals, for which security codes don’t always work.

Users will be able to access the App Passwords section by clicking on ‘Account Settings, then clicking on the “Security’ tab. Here, a password will be generated that will allow you to enter it along with your email when logging into an application. Thankfully, users will not have to remember the password.
