Facebook is partnering with Websense to help protect the millions of Facebook users from dangerous and malicious links.

Scammers and malware distributors are attracted to Facebook like moths are to flames. If you have been on Facebook for any length of time, you have likely seen questionable posts and links on a friend’s wall. As of today, anytime you click a link, you can do so with a little more confidence. All outgoing links will be scanned with Websense’s ‘ThreatSeeker Cloud’ system. If the link is found to be unsafe, you will be given a warning advising you not to proceed. You will also be notified as to why the link was deemed to be potentially harmful.

This is yet another layer of security Facebook uses to help keep the user base safe. Earlier this year Facebook partnered with Web of Trust, a crowd-sourced reputation management service.
