Facecrooks and Safego partner up for increased Facebook Security

We are pleased to announce that we have entered into a partnership agreement with Safego by BitDefender to provide better Facebook safety information and security resources for our readers.

For those of you unfamiliar with Safego, it is a free, third party Facebook application developed by BitDefender that performs in-the-cloud scans to help keep your social networking account safe. With Safego you also get a privacy rating that tells you if you’re an easy prey for identity thieves.

BitDefender Safego warns you if a “bad” link is detected on your or one of your friend’s newsfeed. When you login to your Facebook account, you will see a number next to the BitDefender Safego bookmarked logo. This is actually the number of privacy or safety issues that has been detected in your account.

Other features of BitDefender Safego include:

  • Antiscam Protection – Detects and warns of malicious links
  • Social Scan – Investigates links posted by your friends and allows you to send them a warning
  • Profile Privacy – Warns if your personal data is easily accessible and your privacy at risk
  • Antispam Protection – Keeps your wall free from Facebook spam

BitDefender will be providing us with advanced metrics and information on the most viral and prolific Facebook scams. This will give you more information on the scope and propagation mechanisms of the scams in question. We also intend to feature articles from BitDefender security researchers and bloggers from MalwareCity.com, BitDefender’s own blog dedicated internet security issues.

For those of you looking for an excellent tool from one of the top internet security software providers, Safego by BitDefender can greatly boost your security and maintain your online integrity. We are looking forward to working with them in helping to keep Facebook users safe!
