Facebook was rocked by so many privacy and data scandals last year that a user-led movement to “#DeleteFacebook” actually became a thing. However, according to a report in Bloomberg this week, some Samsung users are finding that even if they want to delete the platform from their phones, they can’t.

The reason for this is that Facebook has a standing deal with Samsung to sell devices featuring a permanent version of the platform. These users can only disable the Facebook app, but they can’t delete it entirely.

“It just absolutely baffles me that if I wanted to completely get rid of Facebook that it essentially would still be on my phone, which brings up more questions,” Samsung owner Nick Winke told Bloomberg. “Can they still track your information, your location, or whatever else they do? We the consumer should have say in what we want and don’t want on our products.”

Thankfully, a Facebook spokesperson was quick to point out that the disabled version of the app acts like it’s been deleted, which means it stops collecting your data and sending it back to the company. Still, given how sensitive the issue of user privacy has become, it’s not a good look for the company to force itself onto users’ phones.
