Currently, consumers are increasingly becoming dependent on having access to the Internet at all times. Whether it is a laptop, Smartphone or tablet, people feel the need to stay connected. One tool which has made that much easier for consumers is WiFi and it has now become As a result, WiFi is now commonplace in most commercialized areas.
The Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) has just launched a survey to discover the habits of consumers using public wireless Internet connections (public WiFi). The ITRC is conducting this survey in order to better understand the best ways to help consumers protect themselves while online and on the go.
The importance of this survey lies in what will be learned about people’s awareness of the risks of public WiFi. The data gathered will help the ITRC to pinpoint areas where consumers need more education in order to protect themselves. Survey results will also help the ITRC to gauge how familiar consumers are with public WiFi in general.
