Why it’s a Scam:

Once you click on the Wall Post link, you are taken to the following page:

When you “Click Here”, you are taken to the Facebook install application screen asking you to install the “Mobile Web” Facebook app. If you agree to install the application, you must agree to give the application developer full access to your basic information and the right to email you, post to your wall, access your data at any time and the right to manage your pages. If you do agree to install the rogue application, you receive the following message before you are allowed to view the enticing “5 things every girl does before meeting her boyfriend.”

We decided to stop at this point, and it would be wise for you to do the same. We have not confirmed, but we have seen users victimized by the scam state that this scam contains a virus. Many of these types of scams are created by survey marketers who get paid each time a survey is completed. It appears that this one could be more malicious and harmful to your system.

How to Deal with the Scam:

If you did make the mistake of installing the application and passing the link onto your friends, you should clean-up your newsfeed and profile to remove references to the application. You also need to access your privacy settings and remove the application.

If you made the mistake of submitting your cell phone number for any of the surveys, then you should contact your carrier immediately to keep any bogus charging from appearing.
