Scam Type: Survey Scam

Trending: March 2011

Why it’s a Scam:

Once you click on the Wall Post link, you are taken to the following page:

When you click “Publish” you are taken to the following screen:

cloverfoal_end
This is a familiar, yet buggy scam page. Normally you are taken to a primary landing page that congratulates you and asks you to accept the reward. If you click yes to accept, then you are usually taken to the screen asking you to publish a message about the “reward” to your Wall. This page also fails to load a survey scam, but instead takes you to the screen shown above. We anticipate the bugs will be corrected shortly and you will see a traditional survey scam as the end game. Always check Zynga’s official website for news on official promotions. Don’t fall for scams on 3rd party, bogus sites.

How to Deal with the Scam:

If you followed their directions clicking “like” and “share,” you need to clean-up your newsfeed and profile to remove references to the application.

If you submitted your cell phone number for any of the surveys, then you should contact your carrier immediately to keep any bogus charges from appearing.

If you or your Facebook friends are falling for tricks like this, it’s time to get yourself informed of the latest threats. Be sure to join the Facecrooks page on Facebook to be kept informed of the latest security issues. Also check out:
