Scam Signature Message: Win 900 Fb Credits For Any Game!(Limited Time Free Gift)
Scam Type: Survey Scam – Premium Services
Trending: December 2010
Why it’s a Scam:
Once you click on the Wall Post link, you are taken to the following page:
After you “like” the page and share the page with your friends, you are asked to take a 4th step to “Click Here” to receive your Facebook credits. Instead of receiving the credits, you are taken to the website: http://gamingcredits.blogspot.com/. This site presents the following, typical survey scam screen:
The end game is obviously another survey scammer trying to get paid. Don’t complete the survey and give them more of your personal information. When completing the surveys for this scam, you are often asked for your email address, age and cell phone number. This gives the scammers more of your information that they can use to do you harm and steal your identity. A common ploy is to charge your cell phone number for premium services until the charges are cancelled. Other “surveys” require you to download a game to play. This one in particular features Frogger. Be wary of downloads from rogue sites, because they often contain malware that can wreck havoc on your system.
How to Deal with the Scam:
If you did make “like” the page, then you should clean-up your newsfeed and profile to remove references to the application (click the small “x” in the top right hand corner of the post on your wall)
If you made the mistake of submitting your cell phone number for any of the surveys, then you should contact your carrier immediately to keep any bogus charging from appearing.
