Six Nevada school girls create Attack a Teacher Facebook Event

cyber_bullyingSix girls, all honor students at a Nevada middle school have been arrested for a sinister Facebook plot against teachers at their school. Allegedly, the girls created and/or made postings to a Facebook Event titled “Attack a Teacher.” This event was scheduled by the schoolgirls to take place Friday, January 11, 2011 at two separate schools. About 100 people were invited to the event, while only 14 accepted the invitation. The six girls charged were responsible for creating the event and for making threatening comments.

There were no details or specifics of their attack plans. Some of the posts were:

“I’m attacking [teacher’s name]” or “Down with [teacher’s name]” and “Die [teacher’s name].”

A parent alerted the school to the incident, and then school administrators confronted the students. The students stipulated to their involvement and told investigators it was meant to be a joke.

None of the students had a history of causing trouble at the school, and they were all said to express remorse over the incident.

Fox reports five of the girls are 12 and one is 13, and they have all been charged with conveying a threat and will have to face a juvenile magistrate judge at a later date. The girls are probably looking at a fine and/or community service.

Superintendent, Richard Stokes told FoxNews.com that 5 of the girls were suspended for three days and one was suspended for five days.
