Why it’s a Scam:
Clicking on the wall post link takes you to the following page:
This page is strictly designed to mine user information and spread their spam message to your friends. The page requires you to like a country or other and also join their group. By the way, at the time of this writing the scam group had garnered almost 24k fans!
How to Deal with the Scam:
If you “liked” the page and joined the group, then you need to perform some cleanup duty on your profile. Remove the item from your wall by clicking the small “x” in the top right hand corner of the post. It would also be a good idea to remove yourself and report the bogus group you joined.
If you submitted your email address, home address and / or other information, then be prepared to receive a deluge of spam email and marketing offers. Keep a watchful eye on your credit and make sure no identity theft attempts are made.
