David Abitbol aka Dvid Darkiller, Guns, Death Threats, and Facebook

abitbolWhen you post something in Facebook, you really should be very careful about the photos you post as well as the things you say in your wall as it could get you in a lot of trouble.

This is exactly what happened to David Abitbol. Going by the name of David Darkiller in his Facebook account, he posted not only photos of the guns that his family owns but also videos of himself using them. Aside from this, he also commented that “death is the only solution.” But one thing that led to an investigation and a subsequent arrest was the threats that he posted online. Apparently, he wrote some threatening words against his teachers as well as some of his former classmates. Of course, this earned the attention of the people involved that they went to the police to file a complaint against the person behind the Facebook account.

The police investigated the case, and it soon led to the Abitbol’s home. To know if the Abitbols own guns, they made use of the federal gun registry, and it did prove that the family, indeed, owns some guns.

Last Saturday, the parents of David Abitbol were awakened by a commotion outside their home. What they thought of as a burglar turned out to be the police taking their son into custody. The police charged their son with improper storage of firearm as well as one count of uttering threats. Subsequent investigation of the Abitbol’s residence revealed five registered firearms as well as rounds of ammunition, all of which were not properly locked up.

Mr. and Mrs. Abitbol defended their son, saying that David belonged to a gun club, thus, the guns. As for those death threats on his Facebook account, they said that one of his ways to relax was to play war games, so there were “threats” posted on his wall. According to them, those were just words used in the war games and nothing personal.

Still, he is to face court this Monday for the charges laid against him. His parents and his friends fully support him and promise to be there for him in court.

This is a lesson that we all should learn, especially if we use Facebook. It is so easy to give others the wrong impression with what we post in our walls, so it is important to be careful with what we project online.
